Dusseldorf is often overlooked when it comes to travel in Germany, however it is filled with culture and bars, what's not to like.
Heres a list of my top 5 things to do while visiting Dusseldorf.
1. Go on an Altbier Safari
Do you enjoy sampling the local beer in every place you go?
If so, the albier safari will be right up your street . It costs
27.50 euros and includes altbier from 5 different breweries, each with an individual taste.

2. Go to the top of the Rhine Tower
It is a 240.5 metre high concrete telecommunications tower which overlooks the whole of Dusseldorf so is a great opportunity to see all the tourist sites from 1 place if your trip is short, although do beware of the dodgy looking lifts. It is 9 euros per adult and it's a great spot for lunch as the food is yummy!
3. Take a Rhine boat tour
The rhine is one of the longest and most important rivers in Europe. It runs through several countries in Europe although the source is in Switzerland.If that isn't a good enough reason then I don't know what is? If it's raining while you're here which let's be frank is a likely possibility with Germany's climate then fear no the boats have plenty of space indoors.
4. Go shopping along the Konigsallee
If shopping is thing then you'll want to head to the main shopping boulevard in Dusseldorf. Here you will find all the big names such as Gucci & Chanel. It is a shoppers paradise even if your budget doesn't stretch that far, you can always window shop. If you're visiting during December this is also the prime location for the Christmas markets. However be aware if you are visiting on a Sunday all the shops will be closed.
5. Visit Alstadt
Commonly known as the longest bar in the world. While this is not strictly true, there is over 300 bars around one street making it the perfect party location come night to sample the local altbier with an authentic atmosphere.
